A mid century style guilty pleasure

Tuesday, 4 August 2015

Did anyone mention drinks cabinets?

They a bit of a mid century guilty pleasure, but we love them! This year the drinks trolley and indeed the drinks cabinet are back in a big way, insinuating themselves into the shows and subsequently our homes with their shrewd, contemporary restyling. The drinks trolley has been introduced to sleek frames, contemporary angles, and materials such as wood and lacquered steel, going from tea to cocktails in style. Drinks cabinets too have had a contemporary makeover, with geometric shapes and block colouring.

At Lime we have picked out a few of our favourite Drinks Trolleys and Drinks Cabinets. The Porada Spritz is a striking trolley in all over Lacquered or natural wood. With a contemporary retro feel and a wide selection of finishes, this is a beautifully versatile piece. The Cattelan Italia Brandy has a strikingly elegant slim steel frame with canaletto walnut tops and wheels. The square, stylish steel frame is available in white or graphite. For a stunningly modern take on a mid century drinks cabinet the Cattelan Italia Portos is perfect. The geometric shaping of the main body is enhanced with the combination of graphite and canaletto walnut. The base is also a stunning geometric styling and the Portos has a mirrored internal frame, glass holders and an internal light. Lastly the Porada Drink is a symphony in wood and glass. The highly styled outer frame is in canaletto walnut and the body is a deep smoked ash. A strip of smoked glass bisects the square front and an open compartment strikes down the centre for a simple and yet breath taking elegance.
